ONGOING AND CONSISTENT COMMUNICATION
The Early Childhood Program is using the ClassDojo application as an online tool that parents can use for communication with the classroom teacher, from getting class stories to receiving important school/district information. Once your child is enrolled at the SBJC, your child’s classroom teacher will send you an invite to join. This platform also allows you to send messages directly to the teacher for 1:1 correspondence.

ABOUT CLASS DOJO
ClassDojo is an educational technology communication website and application. It connects primary school teachers, students, and families through communication features, such as a feed for photos and videos from the school day as well as messaging that can be translated into more than 35 languages. Classroom teachers can assist with setting up of the platform.

• Resources for entertainment, hygiene, training opportunities, behavior reduction and in-home support as needed.
• A liaison between your academic team and your home team.
• Assistance with your first step in creating a multidisciplinary team as your child begins this exciting journey.

“ABA is a scientific approach for discovering environmental variables that reliably influence socially significant behavior and for developing a technology of behavior change that takes practical advantage of those discoveries” (Cooper, 2007).

Applying the philosophy of ABA, the SBJC identifies age-appropriate behaviors and creates a system that incorporates positive motivation and reinforcement for students.

• Our behavioral program is validated in conjunction with the Rutgers Developmental Institute.
• Ongoing training partnership for staff via Felician University’s International Center for Autism and Disabilities Research.  

PHYSICAL THERAPISTS

• Focus on gross motor development, ambulation, safe school negotiation, balance activities, sensory motor development.
• Pull out and in-class models.
• Teacher and parent collaboration.

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGISTS 

• Focus on language development, articulation, communication, (including augmentative devices).
• Treat students in classroom or pull out setting.
• Consult with teachers and parents.

BEHAVIORISTS

• Offer support to classroom teachers.
• Review ABA programs.
• Create individualized behavior plans on an as-needed basis.
• Offer monthly clinicals to parents in our ABA classrooms.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS

• Focus on sensorimotor, fine motor, vestibular motor, and ocular motor skills.
• Pull-out and in-class support models.
• Teacher and parent consulting and communication.
