SBJC Emergency Response Plan
The South Bergen Jointure Commission (SBJC) is a state-approved Board of Education. The mission of the SBJC is to provide services to participating local school districts, with an emphasis on shared services. It is governed by a Commission composed of fifteen trustees, each a member of a participating school district and appointed by their respective Boards of Education. The Commission has all the powers and authority of a Board of Education and is funded entirely by income derived from the provision of services and/or by assessments.
The fifteen districts of the SBJC are committed to working together in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Education, and State and Local Officials to address the health concerns regarding the Coronavirus. This includes:
- Preventative cleaning and sanitization of schools, buses and facilities;
- Educating students, parents, staff, and the community on prevention policies;
- Sharing and collaborating in the event of a long-term school closure (this includes planning and arranging for virtual schools, inventorying and sharing technology, etc.);
- Extending district safety plans to include emergency transportation;
- Speaking with all local education associations (unions) to create an agreement on the use of vacation and/or snow days;
- Creating a link on all district websites with a link to the SBJC Coronavirus update page;
- Scheduling a Health Care Professional to meet with Principals and Nurses from each school district to discuss Coronavirus protocols.
The SBJC Superintendents will update new information as it becomes available to us as we are in daily communication with the NJ and Bergen County Department of Education and other Health/Governmental agencies. Nothing is more important to us than the health and welfare of our students and staff.
Sincerely,
